Atta Arghandiwal first-generation Afghan American, humanitarian, author, motivational speaker and former financial services professional. He was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, but has spent over half of his life in the west, residing in the Bay Area, California.

“Shortly after graduating from high school, I joined the air force to finish his military assignment. After witnessing unexpected political changes beginning with the 1978 communist coup d’état, and ultimately the Soviet Union Invasion, I left Afghanistan in August of 1980 and became a refugee in Germany. In December of 1981, I immigrated to the United States at which point I obtained my first job as a bank teller. I built a successful 29-year banking tenure and worked his way up the ladder to become a Senior-Vice President and Regional Manager.”

With deep passion and pride in his heritage and journey, Atta wrote his first memoir “Lost Decency” (The Untold Afghan Story), winner of the First Year Benjamin Franklin Book Award. In writing the book his hope was to increase awareness about Afghanistan’s political upheaval and to bring attention to the innocent people who have been caught in the chaos of war for four decades. Atta went on to publish his second book titled “Immigrant Success Planning” followed by his latest resource guide, “The Self-Sufficient Global Citizen,” a comprehensive resource guide for immigrated families’ use worldwide.

“I continue to be an advocate for immigrants around the world. My hope is to be able to continue my contributions to humanity through my work and advocacy towards SELF-SUFFICIENCY.”
